Position Title: Mud Logger / Mudlogging Technician
Location: New Mexico (Delaware Basin & Central Basin Platform)
Schedule: Rotational, 12-hour shifts

Position Overview
Stratagraph is seeking experienced Mud Loggers / Mudlogging Technicians for operations throughout New Mexico. Ideal candidates will have 3–5 years of experience in the Delaware Basin and Central Basin Platform (CBP), along with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills.
This role is responsible for providing accurate, real-time geological data to clients while drilling, maintaining equipment on location, and clearly communicating geological changes and areas of interest throughout the wellbore.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform continuous on-site geological monitoring of the wellbore
- Collect, describe, and analyze drill cuttings for lithology and hydrocarbon indicators
- Monitor gas, oil shows, and drilling parameters in real time
- Communicate effectively with client Geologists, Engineers, and Operations teams
- Provide detailed written and verbal reports multiple times per shift
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot mudlogging equipment daily
- Identify geological changes and zones of interest throughout the wellbore
- Follow all safety, environmental, and operational standards on location

Job Requirements
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts in exposed environments for rotations of up to 3 weeks or longer
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel
- Experience with mudlogging software and reporting systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to adapt and work under pressure during periods of high drilling activity
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods
- Comfortable working in remote, outdoor field environments
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3–5 years of wellsite geology / mudlogging experience
- Experience in the Delaware Basin and/or Central Basin Platform (CBP)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Reliable transportation to and from remote work locations
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Pre-employment drug screening
Preferred:
- B.S. in Geology or related field
- Experience with horizontal drilling operations
- Additional experience across other U.S. onshore basins
Expectations
As a Mud Logger with Stratagraph, you will be responsible for on-site geological evaluation of the wellbore while drilling. This includes communicating with client Geologists and Engineers, delivering accurate written and verbal reports, maintaining equipment integrity, and detailing geological changes using rock cuttings, gas, and oil analysis. Accuracy, professionalism, and clear communication are critical to success in this role.
